    Introduction

The intelligent systems division is focused on interactions between humans, computers and robots, and will involve technologies related to micro energy sources, communication, sensors and actuators. The division is affiliated with three majors: Human-Computer Interaction & Robotics, Nano-Electronics, and Nano-Mechatronics.

Human-Computer Interaction & Robotics major involves human interaction with next-generation computing environments: the smart physical environment that are instrumented with sensors and actuators, mobile computing devices that can be worn or carried as well as a cognitive robot as a physical agent roaming the physical environment as well as a virtual agent roaming the cyberspace in behalf of the virtual and physical user.

The Nano-Electronics major involves photonics research in optical fibers and optical logic devices. Opticsl fiber research involves optical fiber & fiber grating devices, high-power fiber lasers, ultra-short optical pulse sources, and technologies delivering high-speed control of amplitude, phase, and wavelength. Optical logic devices, optical interconnectors, high-speed optical switching, quantum dot devices, and spatial optical modulators are being developed for the implementation of optical information processing systems at ultra-high speeds.

The Nano-Mechatronics major involves energy conversion machinery, the renewable energy networks, and commercialization of energy conversion technology. The results of this research will lead to innovative technologies in energy conversive machinery involving high-efficiency and SoM technology
