Dr. Ha has two specialties; phase transformation of metal alloy and solid state physics Related with phase transformation of metal alloy, he is carrying out a study on anti-galling alloy. Related with solid- state physics, he is carrying out 3 projects related with heterogeneous catalysts for the abatement of air pollution. He has special interests on the materials (supporter and catalytic active materials) based catalysis study for example effects of electronic interaction of supporter and active materials which promotes catalyst performance.

Currently, he studies deactivation phenomena of vanadia/tatania based de NOx catalyst through quantum chemical approach.He is also involved in a “near zero emission diesel car” project where he studies on de NOx catalyst for diesel engines. He has published about 40 papers in premier journals and 15 patents.
