English is the language used throughout the whole training course.

Lectures to be attended

Along with studies relating to the major, students need to attend the course work, Korean language class, R&D (field research, seminar) courses.

Requirements for graduation

The awarding of the respective degrees is decided on the basis of the results of individual research and performance in the oral examination of his/her dissertation for the final board assessment.
KIST requires fulfillment of two Korean classes (including class offered during orientation). This regulation is only for students whose entry year is up to spring 2011.
Students whose entry year is Fall 2013 or later need to pass Level 2 for TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean).
The candidate for Ph.D. degree is required to publish at least one paper as a first author in a SCI journal.
Minimum one proceeding, published by an academic conference is required to obtain master degree, however a poster might not accepted. The awarding of an M.S. degree is decided on the basis of the candidate's performance in the course of his/her dissertation. An international journal publication is not mandatory.


In general, it is expected that the candidate will complete the course within 2 years for M.S. degree and 3-4 years for Ph.D. degree.
